About

The Barron Area Nordic Trail Association (BANTA) is a group with the goal of maintaining a trail system in the Rockman’s Woods on the south side of Barron.   While the group was brought together  with  the  main  goal  of  cross country  skiing,  the  trails  are  open  for hiking and  trail  running  when  there  isn’t  snow.  We have also constructed a separate 2.0 mile trail system dedicated to snowshoe use.

We also have constructed, maintain and fund the operation of a lighting system in the woods that allow for skiing on dark winter evenings. As the lights are only 3’ off the ground you able to enjoy the majesty of the large oaks and maples under a starry sky.

The Barron School District assists with mowing of the trails, but the majority of the trail work is done by volunteers.   This includes all of the ski grooming.  Gas and maintenance of the grooming equipment (2-stroke snowmobile) and now electricity are the majority of our budget.   We work to maintain the trails year round to make it an enjoyable place for everyone.

Please consider joining, it’s a wonderful place and great bunch of people.
